Alex Tang

Alex Tang is a current graduate student and 2021 graduate of UNC Charlotte. They earned a Bachelor of Fine Art, concentrating on photography, and with minors in dance, art history, and outdoor adventure leadership. While attending Charlotte, Alex became a student leader with Venture in 2019, and has since been so empowered by their experiences, they’ve been able to move up to a full-time position coordinating trips as well as the climbing wall.

While they can be labeled as an “artist,” Alex likes to think of themself more as a “facilitator,” centering much of their work around three core ideas of the human experience; compassion, craftsmanship, and courage. An ever-present goal of theirs is to, no matter what they’re engaged in, play up the notion that “suffering” and “sacrifice” aren’t just negative concepts in and of themselves, but by traversing them, great things can be achieved and felt. Working through performance, social, and visual art and facilitating impactful experiences is Alex's way of connecting to what they believe most validates our humanity as well as fostering it in others.
