Venture Outdoor Leadership
Position Title
Graduate Teaching Assistant

Alex Tang is a current doctoral student at Charlotte, but started their undergraduate journey there in 2017. They earned a Bachelor of Fine Art, concentrating on photography, and with minors in dance, art history, and outdoor adventure leadership. They also earned a Master of Art, concentrating on education, cognitive science, and women's and gender studies.

Alex is an artist, educator, and facilitator whose work explores what it means to be human, particularly through experiences of challenge, connection, vulnerability, and growth. Grounded in the values of compassion, craftsmanship, and courage, they are drawn to the ways people make meaning through what they create, endure, and experience together.

Working across experiential education, performance, social practice, and visual art, Alex creates spaces that invite people to encounter themselves and one another a little differently. Their work embraces the belief that discomfort, uncertainty, and even failure need not simply be avoided; approached intentionally, they can become places of discovery, beauty, and transformation.

Whether facilitating an experience, teaching, or creating art, Alex is ultimately interested in the same question: what makes us feel more deeply human?
